I was in Portland waiting in vain for a flight to Colorado the next morning, and I stayed with my friend Micah, who is a sort of punk rock version of a blues singer. He was in sort of a foul, overworked mood, and he took me into some tight space in his basement where I leaned against some pipes and recorded his from-memory version of this song. The batteries must have been dying, I think, because his voice isn't really that high pitched. Such is the beauty of analog recordings…
